The Global Consumer Design (GCD) Studio at Whirlpool Corporation’s Campus in Benton Harbor, Michigan, underwent a comprehensive renovation to enhance its role as a hub for creativity and collaboration. The project focused on the interior transformation of a 77,000-square-foot innovation and design facility, introducing new spaces such as a Lobby/Hospitality area, a state-of-the-art Design Theater, and a Pantry/Kitchenette/Lounge. These updates were designed to promote a culture of innovation and community among the global design team, aligning with the concepts of hospitality, collaboration, and forward-thinking design. In addition to the interior renovations, the project included significant facade improvements at the building’s main entrance, parking lot reconstruction, and landscaping enhancements.

The renovations aimed to modernize the facility’s exterior, creating a cohesive and inviting first impression that reflected the innovative spirit of the GCD team. As a group of world-class designers and innovators, the GCD team played a crucial role in shaping the future of home appliances by integrating consumer insights with global design trends.
