Western Michigan Christian (WMC) Master Plan

Western Michigan Christian (WMC) High School and Middle School in Norton Shores, Michigan, occupies a repurposed 140,000-square-foot office building. While renovations and upgrades over the years had served the school community well, steady enrollment growth and an expanding curriculum highlighted the need for a comprehensive master plan. Administrators identified several challenges with the existing facilities that restricted functionality and limited opportunities for future development.

Integrated Architecture partnered with WMC High School and Middle School stakeholders to undertake a thorough discovery process, due diligence, and master planning for the school’s 42-acre property. The initiative focused on crafting a cohesive vision for the site and its buildings, fostering collaboration among the school administration, building committee, students, and parents. The master plan creates a future-ready campus by addressing site organization, building enhancements, and functional improvements, including a multi-functional performing arts center, athletic campus, and student hang-out space. Key activities included stakeholder engagement, site and building analysis, conceptual design, program development, and cost feasibility planning. This collaborative effort resulted in a strategic framework for revitalizing and optimizing the school property. The plan ensures alignment with the needs of all stakeholders while setting the stage for the school’s continued growth and success.
