Ottawa Sands County Park

The Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Department initiated an effort to implement several components of its Ottawa Sands Master Plan. The plan’s centerpiece is a park campground that will serve as a major attraction. IA worked with the Ottawa County Parks and Recreation Commission to plan and design the campground. Phase One includes the planning and conceptual design of the Treehouse Village, three elevated cabins with an interconnected deck system, a restroom/shower building to support yurts, treehouses, and tent camping, and the conversion/renovation of an existing mining office for a welcome center.

The Park’s Commission’s primary project objectives are to improve ecological health, promote education and awareness, and create a unique destination with a coastal connection. The project design closely follows sustainable Living Building Challenge principles.
