Junior Achievement of Michigan Great Lakes
Located high on a hill surrounded by green space and visible to passing motorists is an iconic building that reflects a design that supports innovative thinking. Once home to an architecture firm with a mission to educate on the practice of architecture, the building is being repurposed for an owner with their own educational goals. JA of Michigan Great Lakes prepares young people to succeed in a global economy with highly experiential programs that inspire and engage. Growing too large for its existing facility JA sought a unique environment that would help to promote a transformative experience for its youth, deepening its impact and student outreach. In the new space, two themed experiential learning facilities, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park, will operate under the same roof as the JA of Michigan Great Lakes headquarters, accommodating 250 students and 30 staff members. The renovations include the 23,000-square-foot building with a 4,000-square-foot addition providing new staff, student, and visitor entries, expanded parking, and a bus drop-off area. The open floor plan and building volume offer clean sightlines and abundant natural light.
