New Fire Station Design for Southeast Grand Rapids
The New Kendall Street Fire Station was the highlight of conversation at a recent community event.
The City of Grand Rapids is building a new fire station in southeast Grand Rapids, and IA and design partner BRW are leading the design effort for the new station. The station will be located on Kalamazoo Avenue SE, between 36th and 44th streets, near Kendall Street SE, and will serve the city's Third Ward. The station is set to enhance the fire department's response times in an underserved area of the city, significantly improving emergency services for the community.
Last week, the city unveiled the initial renderings of the new fire station, providing a glimpse into its conceptual design. Community members could view the designs and share their feedback with the Fire Chief, Fire Department staff, the design team, and EV, the construction partner.
